Apparitions

Apparitions is a series of photographic works created through an unconventional process of shooting deliberately out-of-focus video footage, extracting singular frames, and enlarging them to printable dimensions using AI upscaling software. The resulting images contain subtle distortions and textural artifacts due to the software's inability to interpret the content. Hovering on the verge of discernibility, they evoke the fleeting moment before vision comes into focus, akin to how one might try to make sense of a peculiar dream upon waking. Resisting fixity, these images inhabit a space between seeing and sensing, shifting attention away from what is seen to the act of perception itself.
